In the District of Aleksandrów, there are thirty-six primary schools and twelve secondary schools, the oldest of which is the Secondary General School of the Salesian Society, and the biggest as at today - the Vocational School Group ( both in Aleksandrów Kujawski ). Also schools for mentally handicapped children in Aleksandrów and Grabie belong to the district schooling system.
In Ciechocinek, there is a branch of the Włocławek Academy of Arts and Economics affiliated with the Independent Life Centre ( the former 'Sajgon' ).
Our district is an important place on the cultural map of Poland. It is the birthplace, or the life centre of strong significant personalities such as : Stanisław Noakowski - an architect and painter, Ferdynand Antoni Ossendowski - a writer and traveller, Wacław Kubacki - a writer and historian of literature, Edward Stachura - a poet and novelist, Karol Kossak - a painter, Wacław Bębnowski - a
sculpturer, Janusz Żernicki - poet, Ździsław Schmidt - a painter, Maria Danielewicz - Zielińska - a poetess who lives at present in Portugal, as well as poets residing out of Ciechocinek : Zygmunt Dmochowski and Krzysztof Ćwikliński or Zbigniew Lewandowski - a jazz drummer.
The current visage of culture, however, is determined above all by the active local authors, artistic circles and culture animators. Cultural centres inspire and organize important artistic events, such as for example: cyclic festivals, competitions and reviews of the output of various domains of art.
The largest group of professional artists is made up by fine artists, who are natives of Ciechocinek, among who there are : Wiesław Dembski - a graphic artist and professor of the Gdańsk Academy of Arts, Paweł Lewandowski-Palle - a painter and professor of the Wrocław Academy of
Arts, Ewa Pietrzak and Anna Thommee - Stachoń - conservators of works of art. Other artists active in the district are the following: Paweł Nowak - a graphic artist, Wit Płażewski - a sculpturer, and Tadeusz Antoni Wojtasik - another sculpturer.
Ciechocinek is called a town of festivals. The latter take place in the unique wooden monument buildings of the Summer Theatre and the Band Shell. The oldest festival, which in 2001 will take place for the thirtieth time, is the Encounters with the Kuyavian and Dobrzyń Land Folklore. Bands.
One of the most interesting children's art events in the country is the Polish Nationwide Painting Competion For Children and Young People up to the age of fifteen, named ' Man And His Work', which has nearly 4,000 participants. Also the local Drawer and Painter's Studio under the leadership of Professor Paweł Lewandowski-Palle is well-known in the world. It has won over a thousand prizes and awards in art competitions, including the prestigious Grand Prix of the Fifteenth International Exhibition of Children's Art in Macedonian Bitola, in 1997. Due to charming landscapes of the Aleksandrów District area, it is a place of numerous open-air painting competitions.
The popular blues-rock band 'Zdrowa Woda', which started the Great Christmas Aid Orchestra, also comes from Ciechocinek.
The oldest artistic events in Aleksandrów Kujawski are the following: a Nationwide Musical Competition 'Aleksandrowska Gitariada' and a review of Edward Stachura's works 'Stachuriada'. Another interesting interdisciplinary undertaking is 'Biała lokomotywa' (The White Engine) inspired by Stachura's creative
output.
Of all cultural centres, the Communal Cultural Centre in Bądkowo is the oldest one. Ciechocinek and Aleksandrów Kujawski also have local cultural centres, as well as Konecko, Raciążek, Służewo and Zakrzewo.
The District has two cinemas, three museums, three art galleries and eight libraries.

Tomasz Szmidt, the former pupil of 'Zdrój' Sports Club who is still a resident of Ciechocinek, was the only representative of the region in the Olympic Games in Sydney, as he has for many years acted as a pillar of defence in the field hockey national team. Lovers of lawn tennis can play it on the tennis courts in the Health Resort Park.
